Hi Andi,

Once again, thank you for writing and sharing these footprint words. My favorites were, "...out of longing—a great desire to fill the vast expanse of universe with a light and love so powerful, everyone on our planet would stop long enough, look around, and wonder what we’re fighting for and why." I told Havens recently that if I were to find my magic wand, I would make it so that every human being alive on Earth would have the experience of seeing the Milky Way in its glory and would have that sense of wonder.

I wrote a poem about that... I think it's title is The World Is not Your Size. When I wrote it, I had in mind Annie Dillard's essay in which she said (paraphrasing from distant memory, here): I'd like to hold this amoeba up to the sky to show it Andromeda and blow it's little ectoplasm.

Andi -- So good to read your Substack & poems at Sky Island Journal! Nicely done. Were these publications already in the works when we met online via Emily Harstone's SPR or did they result from a flurry of inspired submissions? I've certainly upped my submission rate, and I enjoyed the chance your pieces afforded me to check out Sky Island Journal. Thanks for bringing it to my attention!

Thank you, Meg! Those two Sky Island poems are recent submissions/acceptances. Because of our course, I significantly boosted the number of submissions circulating, and in the last two days have had two more pieces accepted, one poem and one creative non-fiction piece, a memoir excerpt. Aside from those, I have about 20 other submission packets out in the Poemlandia for consideration--many of them with multiple poems, depending on how many they request in the call for submissions. Best wishes to you as you continue to write and publish!
