Because I now live where there is a crabapple tree in the front yard, I collect the best fallen apples and arrange them in on the wall, in the rock garden, or in Buddha's open hands and lap--and when I do, Michele, it's in honor of you and "the Zuni Street Ashram." With such low humidity here, instead of rotting, many apples dry into perfect little apple sculptures.
Lovely poem Andi .. thanks so much for helping me begin my October day with thoughts of Fall Love. I am reminded of how each Fall, when I was in college, and now as a college teacher, I cherish the freshness of each Fall day on campus, seeing all those shining faces of young students (and a few older ones) anxious to learn and looking for intimacy among their newly found friends. And I remember moments of exciting new relationships from my own Freshman/Sophomore years ... both the new academic ideas/challenges and the long walks through piles of bright, colorful Michigan leaves! Many blessings to you and yours, Billy
Great images, Billy. I also have a "fall" poem about my early college experience. Not so much the shining faces, but the "summer is definitely over and midterms are around the corner" moment!
This as among your very best, Andi - thank you.
Thank you, Charlie. Poems are like cats, I guess. They have nine lives.
Andi, I loved this! Thanks for helping me transition into my next season, and incarnation.
